14 Days E.B.C and Best Attractions in Central Lhasa

 

Day 01:

Upon arrival you will be met by our staff and transferred to the Budge Hotel near the Jokhang Temple:  

 

Day 02:

In the morning, go to visit the famous Potala palace which is built in 7th century and explore the grandest of this myriad chapels, you will experience its audience halls, the jeweled and Golden burial chortens (stupa Tombs) of past Dalai Lamas, and tremendous number of Buddhist frescoes, thangkas, combinations of mandala, etc. In the afternoon, pay a visit to the holist temple in Tibet, the Johkang Temple, built during king Songtsen Gonpo's reign by princess Wencheng and its famous Barkor Kora, where you can buy or appreciate traditional Tibetan artifacts, religious implements, antiques, books, Tibetan music instrument, Thangkas, and tradition tibetan clothes etc

 

Day 03:  

After breakfast, go to visit Drepung monastery, which is situated at the foothill of a mountain and was founded by Jamyang Choeje in 1416. It was once the home of 10000 monks and Ganden podrang in Drepung is famous for it was the administrative center during fifth Dalai Lama and later moved Potala palace. After having lunch, continue to visit the Sera Monastery, which was founded in 1419 by Tsongkapa's disciple Jamchen Choeje. The most attractive is its Buddhist Scriptures debating held in the courtyard.

 

Day 04:

Drive to visit Yumbu Lagang that is the first castle of Tibet kingdom before King Tsongtsen Gamp of 7th sentury and visit Tradug monastery after it. Afternoon, we will drive other side of the Yanglung Tsangpo river to see Samye monastery which is the ever first monastery in Tibet and was build in 8th century by King Trisong Detsen overnight Monastery Hotel

 

Day 05: 

In the morning set out for Gyangtse, which is a cultural city of central Tibet. En-route, we will see Yardrok Youtso Lake just on top of Kampala pass. The crocodile-shaped lake is one of the four holy lakes in Tibet located just up right of Kamlala pass (3975m). And more on, we will see Karola Glacier roadside at 4960m. The most important attraction for today is Yamdro-tso Lake, and Kumbum monastery in Gyantse. Yamdro-tso Lake is shaped like coiling scorpion with deep blue in colour and Kubum monastery has a 35m-high chorten (stupa) with its white layers trimmed with decorative stripes and its crown-like golden dome. Day 06:

Drive from Gyantse to Shigatse in the morning. In Shigatse, you will visit the famous Tashi Lhunpo monastery where you can see the well-preserved largest statue of Jampa (future god) in the world. The monastery itself is abiding place for the successive Penchen Lamas. Then drive to visit Narthang monastery, which is historically famous for Tibetan scripture printing. Then drive to visit the Sakya monastery belonging to Sakyapa order. Overnight Shekar snow land hotel.

 

Day 07:  

Drive to Rongpuk monastery - The highest monastery in the world by computing its elevation and is based close to E.B.C. Until Rongphu monastery, pass the wild grassland, cross the rapids river and high mountains. If it is in clear whether, you can have a glimpse of 4 mountains which are 8000m high or more, that is, Mt. Lhotse (8516m), Mt. Everes (8848m), Mt. Qowowuyag (8201m) and Mt Magalu (8463m). Overnight in Ronguk, Guest House or Tent guesthouse.

 

Day 08:

Early in the morning, you can take amazing photos with the sunrise from Rongphu to Mt. Everest. The scenery is fabulous and splendid. After walking, arrive the place to get on the local bus then use half of an hour to arrive at Everest Base camp (Or you also can trekking to Base Camp around 1.5-2 hours one way. It's more interesting and much warmer, but hard to breath). Hike up to the top to the viewpoint of Mt. Everest. Then in the afternoon go down from EBC and drive to Shigatse – the second largest town in TAR. Visit Tibetan market on the available time. Overnight Medium Hotel.

 

Day 09:

Drive to Lake Namtso via Yangpachen Hotspring . Many travelers' dream is fulfilling by seeing natural views via Damxung to Namtso Lake. There are huge mountains, grassland, nomad livelihood, yaks and sheep etc on the way towards Namtso lake (4718m), which feels you, likely a fall of blue sky shaped in turquoise. Namtso is second largest salted lake after Qinghai's Kokonor, and Tibetans count it is one of the four deity lakes and worshipped occasionally. Close to Namtso Lake there are magnificent mountains and the top one is the west Nyenchen Thanglha with white cap of snow in every year under exonerated atmosphere. Overnight Guesthouse

 

Day 10:

Spend the morning at the Lake and then continue on to Reting monastery, passing the LaGan la with an elevation (5,150m) enjoying a panoramic view of Namtso Lake. Descend down the pass to enjoy a visit with a few Tibetan nomadic families. Arrive at Reting monastery later that evening. The monastery dates back to 1056, it was initially associated with Atisha jowo Je, but in later years it had an important connection with the Gelugpa order and the dalai lamas. You can make Kora (walk around the monastery) and enjoy a view of the Reting valley. Overnight Reting Guest house.

 

Day 11:

Along the way to Tidrum, pass by and visit with local families living the nomadic lifestyle. Visit Tidrum nunnery. Though it’s a small nunnery, it has a very strong connection to Yeshe Tsogyel, the wife of the king Trisong Detsen and consort of guru Rinpochen. There are approx 200 nuns practicing meditation there. Visit the delightful hot springs, which are surrounded by wooden canopies and have separate men’s and women’s pools. We will enjoy a short hike up to the local caves for a few hours. Overnight Tiddrum guest house.

 

Day 12:

Drive from Tidrum to Lhasa via Ganden monastery overnight medium Hotel

 

Day 13:

Morning drive Drak Yerpa.  Drak Yerpa built on a hillside with more than 80 meditation caves ans is described as the "life tree" or spiritual axis of Lhasa. The site had a powerful spiritual heritage, having been visited by Songsten Gampo, Padmasambhava, Yeshe Tsoygel, Padampa Sanggye, and Asisha Before the Cultural Revolution is was the home of several hundred hermits, monks, and nuns.  After visiting Drak Yerpa then back to Lhasa and free sightseeing overnight medium Hotel.

 

Day 14:

Drive to Gongkar airport to connect your flight
