Ganden to Samye Trekking

 

Day 01: Arrival Lhasa by Flight

Flight to Lhasa, upon arrival at Lhasa airport, you will be greeted by our local guide and driver, transfer to hotel in Lhasa, upon arrival at hotel, check in the hotel and relax, rest for the rest of the day, acclimatize,  we may take a short walk around the Barkhor old town area, hotel stay hotel

 

Day 02/03: Lhasa Sightseeing

Visiting the magnificent Potala palace, Derpung monastery (the once largest Buddhist learning centers in Tibet, once it housed more than 10,0000 monks ), the Sera monastery where we visit the monks debating, the summer palace of the Dalai Lama and the most sacred shrine in Tibet Jokhang temple and the Barkhor which is most popular market and sacred walk for all Tibetans, in Lhasa stay ( 3650m ) hotel.

 

Day 04: Day trip to Ganden monastery

Drive Lhasa to Ganden monastery, touring the monastery the main seat of Tsong Khapa master who founded the Gelukpa sect of Tibetan Buddism back in the 14th century. This Ganden monastery is one of the 6 major Gelukpa monasteries in Tibet. After visiting this monastery  we have an optional 3 to 4 hrs trek crossing Ganden ridge to Trup Shi village where we can visit a local Tibetan family for some local drinks and snacks, then meet our driver and drive back to Lhasa or we do a 40 minutes scenic walk around the monastery ( the Kora ) and then drive or start trek to Tupshi camp side.

 

Day 05 : Trek to Shugala

Day 06 : Trek to Chitu la

Day 07 : Trek to Nyingosumdo

 

Day 08:

Trek and ending in Samye  hotel

 

Day 09:

Samye / Chokor Gyal, guest house.

 

 

Day 10:

Visit Yumbulakang and Tradruk temple and then drive to Lhasa, hotel.

 

Day 11:

Lhasa / Yamdrok lake / Gyangtse, visit Palkor Chode monastery including Kumbum stupa, drive to Shigatse,  hotel.

 

Day 12:

Shigatse, visit Tashi Lunpo monsatery including the local market, drive to Shekar, hotel stay  hotel.

 

Day 13:

Shekar to Everest, over night in Rombuk monastery guest house.

 

Day 14:

Everest to Nyalam, guest house or hotel.

 

Day 15:

Nyalam - border, cross border and continue with Nepali driver to Kathmandu
